PNB Donates Computers to Bulacan's San Miguel National High School

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Philippine National Bank donated 40 decommissioned desktop computers and a laptop to the San Miguel National High School in San Miguel, Bulacan in a simple turnover ceremony last Thursday, August 5, led by SVP Michael M. Morallos, Head of Information Technology Group (ITG) and FVP Constantino T. Yap, Special Assistant to the President & CEO on IT Matters.

Joining the turnover ceremony, which was held at the PNB Buendia Lobby, are representatives from San Miguel National High School: Assistant Principals Dr. Cherilyn R. Goyena, Dr. Joselito G. Milan, and Dr. Brenda Lea A. Caranto. FVP Yap invited his friend, Mr. Allan V. Abesamis, who paved the way in assisting the said donation for the school after the 2020 lockdown.

Starting with the 2015 tree planting program with Haribon Foundation, PNB ITG has been exercising its role as a responsible corporate citizen to help our communities,” FVP Yap said. “At PNB, we believe that education is one of the key ingredients in nation-building and to succeed in life and we are doing our part to help mold the next generation of Filipinos by supporting the public schools. We hope that PNB’s humble donation will help make online learning more accessible to the San Miguel National High School students, especially during this time of pandemic.”

FVP Yap further enthused that this is just one of ITG’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and he plans to continue this initiative going forward.

For his part, SVP Morallos said that this is ITG’s way of ensuring that the Bank’s resources are efficiently used and managed as part of its commitment to the environment. “ITG is one with PNB in ensuring that we reduce our environmental footprint to help the planet. We must be good stewards of the Bank’s resources and we do this by ensuring that old but still serviceable computers, as well as computer parts and peripherals, are refurbished and set aside.” He added that instead of throwing away old computers after a system upgrade, these are donated to non-government organizations or public schools asking for donations.

As part of its sustainability agenda, PNB remains committed to helping its communities and protecting the environment through significant initiatives that imbibe responsible corporate citizenship.
