PNB holds virtual Annual Stockholders’ Meeting
Philippine National Bank (PSE: PNB) held its first virtual Annual Stockholders’ Meeting on June 23, 2020.
In his message to the stockholders, President and CEO Wick A. Veloso focused on how PNB continues to serve customers and help build the economy by supporting clients grow their business. “PNB funded several projects – including those in power, water supply, and infrastructure – helping our customers capture opportunities in building better infrastructure and improving agricultural activity in a fast-moving economy.”
Furthermore, Veloso said PNB is committed to the customers’ financial needs especially now that the country is coping with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. “When the enhanced community quarantine was announced, we swiftly set up a command center and continued operational support for all business units. Many Philnabankers have been working from home since, quickly adjusting to the new normal. We were able to work closely with customers on programs intended to relieve financial pressure on their businesses while mitigating what we expect to be increasing credit risk within the loan portfolio. All these, while working from home”.
Veloso also encouraged clients to bank in the safety of their homes through digital banking channels such as the PNB Internet Banking and the PNB Mobile Banking App. “As social distancing becomes the new normal and quarantine measures are today’s reality, we quickly deployed technology to make it easier for more Filipinos to do their banking transactions anytime, anywhere. We encourage our customers to open an account with PNB and use our Internet and Mobile Banking for fund transfer and payment needs to over 200 billers,” he added.
Despite the challenges brought about by COVID-19, Veloso affirms that PNB will continue to serve Filipinos. “Today, we are determined more than ever to pursue Safe, Sustainable and Profitable Banking while we carry on PNB’s purpose of supporting our customers with financial solutions that make lives better for our fellow Filipinos.”
